The Long Creek Wind Project is located about 30 miles south of Iowa City, Iowa in the high-yielding corn and soybean farmlands in Washington County, Iowa.

Project Interconnection:
The Long Creek I Wind Project will interconnect to a 345 kV Ameren transmission line or connect directly at a substation located west of Highway 218 in Washington County.

Landowners and Acreage Involved:
More than 350 landowners with approximately 48,000 acres will be involved in the project.
Commercial Operation:
Long Creek Wind Project is estimated to be in commercial operation in 2013.
Utility Buyers:
The power produced by the Long Creek Wind Project is expected to be sold to regional regulated and non-regulated utilities.
Project Developer:
The developer of the Long Creek Wind Project is TradeWind Energy, LLC (“TradeWind”), which is headquartered in Lenexa, Kansas. The senior managers of TradeWind have over 100 years of combined experience in the independent power development business including acquisitions and project development across the United States, Europe, Canada, and the Caribbean, as well as significant regulated utility experience.
Key Project Attributes:
- The project will take a minimal amount of acreage (1% to 2%) out of service, including land for roads, turbine foundations, and maintenance buildings.
- The project will utilize significant local labor and materials for its construction and operations and will generate significant economic benefits to the local community.
- The project enjoys broad community and county agency support.
- The project will offset approximately 900,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year, 3,000 tons of NOx per year, and 4,000 tons of SO2 per year
- The project will generate enough power to supply the needs of approximately 90,000 households.
