Project Location:
The English Farms Wind Project is located approximately 60 miles east of Des Moines, IA in the high-yielding corn and soybean farmlands of Poweshiek County, Iowa.

Project Interconnection:
The English Farms Wind Project will interconnect to either a 345 kV (MIDAM) line or a 161kV (MIDAM) transmission lines located in Poweshiek County.

Project Size:
250 MW

Project Turbines:
To be determined.

Landowners and Acreage Involved:
More than 250 landowners and over 32,000 acres will be involved in the project.

Commercial Operation:
English Farms Wind Project is estimated to be in commercial operation in 2013.

Utility Buyers:
The power produced by English Farms Wind Project will be sold to regional regulated and non regulated utility companies.

Project Developer:
The developer of the English Farms Wind Project is TradeWind Energy, LLC (“TradeWind”), which is headquartered in Lenexa, Kansas. The senior managers of TradeWind have over 100 years of combined experience in the independent power development business including acquisitions and project development across the United States, Europe, Canada, and the Caribbean, as well as significant regulated utility experience.

Key Project Attributes:

  1. When completed, the project will produce enough power for approximately 75,000 homes.
  2. The project is one of the most energetic wind development sites in central Iowa.
  3. Of the approximate 32,000 acres included in the project area, the project will only take approximately 1% to 2% acres of land out of service, including all land for roads, turbine foundations, and maintenance building.
  4. The project is expected to have no material effect on any threatened and endangered species of birds or animals based on third party studies commissioned by TradeWind Energy.
  5. Landowners will be participating and collecting royalty payments from the project.
  6. The project will utilize significant local labor and materials for its construction and operations and will generate significant economic benefits to the local community.
  7. The project fits well with the surrounding area in terms of the existing infrastructure and commercial activities and enjoys broad community support.
  8. The project, when completed, will offset approximately 750,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year, 2,500 tons of NOx per year, and 3,400 tons of SO2 per year.
